Gratitude

My Great Uncle Cecil taught me to color. He is the man on the far right in the photo. That’s my Granny, Mary Jane next to him.

What I know about Cecil is that he is my Granny’s brother, he grew up in Kentucky one of 13 children, and that I was in his presence maybe a handful of times. Cecil had a full head of hair and a kind smile and somehow reminded me of an actor from the 50’s. “Old timey movies” I would have called them. He was kind, patient and loving. I wonder what he knew about me.

My favorite memory of Uncle Cecil was a road trip from Cincinnati to Florida or vice versa. He taught me how to color. No, how to REALLY color. He was GOOD! I don’t remember how old I was. Maybe 9 or 10. Over the years I would remember him fondly when I would sit down to color.

Cecil was fully invested. Fully present with me. He let me choose the colors. I would carefully consider my options. Realism was always important to me as I colored. He would take the crayon outlining each section with a dark line and then use a tissue to blend the line in toward the image. WOW. Showing me how to shade. I absolutely loved it. We colored together. We were together.

The are so many things that make me well up with gratitude.

Gratitude is a powerful force. Gratitude is universally understood. It is in the archetypal realm. An unseen collective consciousness. All people understand it. It is an ancient understanding that comes from the heart. Not the mind.

My Gratitude for the man who was my Great Uncle Cecil gives positive power for that energy to carry on. I can feel right now in this moment how he affected my life. I can feel the energy flow from that experience to me now. So I can share it others.

Keeping these knowing’s from these archetypal realms present in my life has been key for my own personal healing of self. I know it can work for you too. Whether these archetypes seem beautiful or shadowy is not the matter. They exist, cannot be denied and all have powerful lessons to share with us. Learning from the light and the dark.

Let the good times roll. Share your Gratitude daily and keep the positive flow going so the negative gets swept away.
